The Big Gold showing occurs in the vicinity the northwest trending contact of Upper Triassic Stuhini Group marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks on the west with Lower Jurassic andesitic rocks of the Hazelton Group on the east.

Grab sample BG06-KM-01 consisted of greenish dacite-andesite with thin irregular quartz lenses and veins. Pyrite (up to 1-3 per cent) occurs along vein contacts. This sample assayed 65 parts per billion gold, 3.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.11 per cent copper (Assessment Report 29412).

Grab sample BG06-KM-06 is a sample of quartz vein material mineralized with pyrite, tetrahedrite. These are hosted in an andesitic flow intruded by felsic plugs. The sample assayed 7.14 grams per tonne gold, 84.9 grams per tonne silver, 0.72 per cent lead, 0.027 per cent zinc and 0.063 per cent copper (Assessment Report 29412).

Work in 2015 led to a sericite alteration zone that exhibits strong shearing. Numerous quartz sericite schist subzones have been discovered of which two have been tested to date by limited sampling. One of the subzones, traced for at least 150 metres and with an indeterminate length, is up to 10 to 15 metres wide and features quartz-pyrite mineralization. In some areas, pyrite forms up to 30 per cent of the rock and some samples from the zone have shown arsenopyrite and jarosite alteration. The subzone is bracketed by outcrops of limestone and a volcanic rock carrying abundant mariposite. The quartz sericite schist shows a vertical foliation and forms a series of hummocks where the silicification has been more intense and the rock less resistant to erosion. Eight grab samples taken along a 150-metre traverse of the subzone averaged 0.81 gram per tonne gold equivalent (0.66 gram per tonne gold and 10.7 grams per tonne silver at a 70:1 ratio; gold ranged from 0.04 to 1.82 grams per tonne gold and silver from 4.0 to 23.5 grams per tonne (Press Release, Teuton Resources Corp., September 23, 2015).

Drilling in 2016 by Teuton was initiated to test depth extensions of gold-bearing mineralization sampled on surface from an eight-metre-wide outcrop of quartz sericite schist. These holes encountered multiple subparallel zones mineralized with varying amounts of pyrite, the same sulphide identified on surface. One of these zones, approximately a 10-metre intersection (true width is presently unknown), also contains sphalerite, as well as occasional strands of chalcopyrite, two sulphides not seen on surface.

Work History

In the 1960s, Newmont Explorations reported small showings in the vicinity, notably the Mal (104B 218) to the immediate northwest.

In 1987 Magna Venture discovered galena-bearing quartz vein float, dubbed the TK Vein, at approximately 2060 metres elevation in the northwest corner of Bliss 2 claim. Samples assayed up to 6.68 grams per tonne gold and 58.29 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 17055). This float is located about 900 metres to the north-northwest of the Big Gold sampling.

In 2006, several samples were taken on the Big Gold property by Teuton Resources that were significantly elevated in various economic minerals.

In 2006 and 2007, Hathor Exploration Ltd. completed a 7228.7 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Gracey claims of the Iskut project. In 2008, Max Minerals Ltd. examined the property.

In 2015, Teuton Resources Corp.'s 2015 prospecting has led to the discovery of an extensive zone of alteration located on Teuton's Big Gold property. The new alteration zone was discovered during a routine follow-up of anomalous samples taken during a regional reconnaissance conducted in 2006. Two float samples and 86 grab samples were collected. These samples were collected from the ER1 claim of the Big Gold property that contains the Eskay Rift prospect (Assessment Report 36107). The Big Gold showing occurs 4.75 kilometres to the west of the Eskay Rift occurrence and was originally a smaller claim/property that did not encompass the Eskay Rift prospect. At some point after 2006 the Big Gold showing area was restaked by Teuton as the Mach 3 claim. By 2016, the Big Gold property was just east of Big Gold showing and consisted of the Big Gold 1-2 claims and the ER1 and 2 claims and Claim 53892 with ER1 containing the Eskay Rift prospect.

In 2016 Teuton Resources Corp. reported that they had completed drilling on the Big Gold but this appears have been done on their Big property (Eskay Rift prospect) to the east.
